OOB Twitter Challenge!

 Happy School Library Month!

School Library Month (SLM) is the American Association of School Librarians' (AASL) celebration of school librarians and their programs. Each April,  school librarians are encouraged to create activities to help their school and local community celebrate the essential role that strong school library programs play in transforming learning.  This 2015 celebration marks the 30th anniversary of School Library Month! The first national observance kicked off with a ceremony on the west steps of the U.S. Capitol on April 1, 1985, and its theme was "Where Learning Never Ends: The School Library Media Center."

Honoring the anniversary, the 2015 theme is "Your School Library, Where Learning Never Ends. " *

In concert with this theme, and to keep all of us learning, the District Librarians (Beth Orlando, Aimee Thompson, and Yours Truly) have put together a Twitter Challenge as our contribution to School Library Month. This is an opportunity to continue learning how to use Twitter to connect with peers and colleagues and to continue to build  your professional/personal learning network (PLN).  And it should be fun, too!!

Your District Librarians will track participants over the course of the challenge.  Everyone who completes the challenge will be entered into a raffle for some great prizes. And I mean great stuff, like coffee, books and pizza!

If you have technical troubles or need help, see me!

Happy Tweeting!

Linda

* In case you are wondering, we no longer call School Libraries "Media Centers" and I am now officially a "School Librarian" not a "School Library Media Specialist." The reason for that is simple- folks have finally realized the infinite capabilities of school librarians and the central role of the school library in teaching and learning, so we don't have to remind people all the time and can go back to a simpler, more concise name!
